Kicking Out Procrastination & Getting Down to Business
Make a list and check it twice.
The key to getting things done is planning, so start by writing down exactly what you want to get done and when. Make sure those important tasks are at the top of your list (ex. the website banner you were supposed to update last week!) so those tasks can be completed asap. Don't be afraid to add more items as you go along or cross them off once they're checked off as completed! Here’s a planner I love “Bossy Girl Journal Planner” that helps guide you through business goals and stay on task.
Get your mind going, but not too much.
Now, you're probably thinking: "How do I get my mind going?"
The answer is simple: don't overthink it! You can start by getting your ideas out in the open and then refining them later. If you are feeling quite overwhelmed when it comes to getting down to business grab a workbook designed to guide you through business. My personal favorite is the workbook “Mind Your Business Workbook” whenever I feel stuck or unmotivated I use this workbook as a roadmap to get back to business.
Don't be afraid to delegate - even if it's just to yourself.
Yes, you are a superwoman, but you are not the only person who can do a task! There are so many websites and online tools that can help you complete business tasks and help save you some time. Check out AI platforms that can help with content generation ideas or platforms like Fiverr that connects businesses with freelancers to get task done.If you're like me and tend to procrastinate because "I'm just not good at this kind of thing", try this: give yourself some time constraints (like an hour) and challenge yourself to see how much work you can get done in that period of time. It might surprise you how much gets done when working under pressure (you’re a Mama, you got this!) A procrastination timer a fun tool to help you manage your time constraints and it’s more convenient than setting a timer on your phone and getting distracted from your task!
When all else fails, reward yourself!
If you're having trouble getting down to business, it might be time to reward yourself. A great way to do this is by giving yourself something small and simple as a treat when your tasks are complete. This can help keep you motivated throughout the day and prevent procrastination from setting in again tomorrow.
The key thing here is finding what works best for YOU; what works well for some people might not work at all for others (and vice versa). So, experiment with different types of rewards until something clicks!
You're worth it!
You're the best person to run your business! You have a unique perspective, and you've made something that's never been made before. You know your audience better than anyone else, and they will be so grateful for what you create if only because it's so different from anything else out there. And let's face it: working on your creative project makes you feel like a million bucks!
I hope that this article has given you some useful tips on how to beat procrastination. Remember, you are a mom and an entrepreneur your babies and business thrive when you thrive. You’ve got this Mama, get back to business!
