Quick Tips For Setting Resolutions You'll Want To Keep

Mom Life, Wife Life, Work Life, Me Time (yes that is still a priority in Motherhood), with all the hats we wear as Mother’s setting resolutions to balance it all is not only necessary but needed! Here are quick and simple tips for setting realistic and attainable resolutions for the New Year!

Make a list of resolutions with your family.

You can not tackle every resolution on your own, recruiting the family will make setting resolutions more fun for them and easier for you!

  • Make an important list of resolutions with your family.
  • Talk about what is important to you, and how you can help each other achieve your goals.
  • You can make a list of goals for the whole family, or just for yourself!

Make small adjustments.

The first step to making changes is figuring out what you want to change. You need to know what needs your attention most urgently. To start, it is helpful to make a list of everything that is bothering you and then prioritize your list by importance. In this case, I am going to start with the things I feel are most important:

  • Consistency on Social Media Platforms (planning out my content in advance and scheduling it to post)
  • Spending more time with my family (setting family movie nights)
  • Carving out more time for self-care (monthly spa day or nail appointment)

Be realistic, but do not underestimate yourself.

This is one of my favorite tips for setting goals. It is so easy to get overwhelmed with all the things that need to get done and feel like you are never going to be able to accomplish them all. But if you want to enjoy this experience as much as possible and not burn out, it is important that you are realistic about what is possible for your family right now. Set smaller goals throughout the week so that no matter how busy things get during any given day or week period, so something meaningful is always being worked on!

Stay on top of things by creating another to-do list of what you have accomplished.

Make a list of the things you need to accomplish this week and next and use it as your main guide for keeping your sanity. It is also helpful to check off each item as you finish it, so that when the day is over and you feel like you have not accomplished anything at all, you can look back at what was done and feel proud of yourself. This might seem like an obvious thing to do; however, we do not always take time to reflect and give ourselves praise!

Put your resolutions into practice right away.

The new year is the best time to think about the things you want to change and improve in your life. But it is also important to put those resolutions into practice right away, because if you wait for any of these reasons, chances are you will never actually get around to them:

  • A special occasion (like a birthday or anniversary)
  • The right time (when you have finally found a babysitter)
  • The right mood (when everyone else is asleep so they will not judge you)

Achieving these resolutions will be easier if you create a plan for how you will do it.

  • Use the tips in this article to create a plan for how you will achieve your resolutions.
  • Make a list of all the resources you need to achieve your goals and make sure those things are available to you (for example, if one of your resolutions is to work on a project around the house, make sure that there are materials on hand that will help make this happen).
  • Write down any time commitments involved in working toward achieving each goal (for example, if one of your resolutions is "make more time for my family by setting a family movie night," write down what day your movie night will be).

The most important thing to remember is that you do not have to do it all at once Mama! Make a solid plan for yourself and stick to it. The rest will fall into place. Do not worry, if you take things one step at a time, everything will go smoothly.
